Manila Philippines to Iloilo Estancia 45Min. then Iloilo to Estancia 3 and half hour Land Travel

What must SEE in Gigantes Island

Gamay Island (Small Island)

Its takes 3 and a half hour from main land of iloilo City Philippines, where the islands found. Some Ilonggo known the island of Gigantes, from old word island of Higantes or (Giant Island) This island have 4 barangay that divided into 2 The North and South Gigante. If you traveling alone  or do the backpacking its Little expensive but place is awesome and you will never regret being around here.
Estancia Iloilo Fishing Port

Me and my sister wake up and leave our town Barotac Nuevo iloilo Philippines around 6:30 am ride with the buss (Ceres Liner). Buses transport from barotac nuevo  to estancia two and a half of hour it depends of transportation you do.  Or 2nd option you can do direct to Carles which Gigantes Island is part of Carles. Why we choose Estancia its because Estancia have a one route daily going to The Island, It is a passenger boat. While in carles you are going to haggle to the boatman to bring you or tour around for island hopping. Reason for that long hour we take a passenger buss, if the buss is not full, the buss will continue pick up some passenger along the way from another town to another. From Barotac Nuevo you are going to pass some Town like:

1. Anilao
2. Banate
3. Sarah
4.Ajuy
5.Balasan Is the last town

Estancia Port Area

When arrival at the Estancia, take a ride on the tricycle going to the port of estancia, and the transportation is 10.00 pesos only. To the backpacking person or to travel alone, you are going to wait the passenger boat which arrived around 11:00 am and that's the St Michelle. We left the port at 12:00pm. If you are group and wanted to leave estancia port going to the island as early and wanted to back to the main town within that day, you are going to rent a boat and cost 6,00.00 to 8,000.00 possible 10 to 15 sitters, its defend how you negotiate.
Please take note that visiting this beautiful Island is a long hour and day, because of the distance of each islands, so you cant make it in one day, but possible for the group traveller if you arrived the island at 9:am.
Only one boat passenger arrived and back to the island everyday. The transportation to the Gigantes Island is 75.00 Pesos and 5.00 pesos for terminal fee. The payment will be collected during voyage total transportation is 80.00 pesos only and you ride a boat for almost two and a half hour.

Tricycle Estancia 10.00 pesos one way
Passenger Boat  80.00 Pesos one way for non local or foreign
Option: Renting a boat for Group 6,000.00 to 8,000.00   10 sitters

If you want to explore the island in front of port of estancia like Lungingot bay, manipolon, you can pay the passenger boat for only 40 to 50 pesos per passenger way, but no assurance if the boat come back to the main land of estancia. Or you can explore those island by renting the boat, in that matter you need to negotiate and be wisely.

Island in front of Estancia port  and the transport per ride are:

1. Lungingot   40.00 one way
2. Bayas    50.00
3. Manipolon  50.00
Arrival At Barangay Asluman Gigantes Island.

We arrived around 3:22 pm to the barangay asluman in gigantes island due of bad weather. The boat passenger is around 40. The weather is not good when we arrived its raining. When arrived the island you are going to ride motorbike to rich the hide ways inn. cost of transport is 10:00 pesos only you can ride max to 2 person on the motorbike.

SOME OTHER INFO ABOUT THE PLACE:

Some blogger and traveler use route Manila to Carles. Actually Carles is near to gigantes Island but since Estancia is more developed, and another reasons are the sea shore or dock port area in carles is not deep compare to Estancia. If your group traveler better take a Carles route, you can rent the boat to explore and do island hopping in cheapest cost compare to rent a boat to Estancia
  1. North Gigntes. But for some info, their is no accommodation on the island unless u have some relatives. Better ask the local government and friends who knew about the place or bring some tent to camp.
  2.  Also food and water their is no market, or 7 eleven on the island so better bring foods and water. But if you stay in Brgy Asluman South Gigantes, they have restaurant to dine, water bottle coffee so nothing to worry about.
  3. Electricity have schedule so around 6.00 or 7.00pm electricity will cut out but some neighbor used generation like Hide ways Inn where we stay. That is the only hotel accommodation in gigantes Island but take note the route of the boat.Barangay Asluman where hide ways in located.
Please do email or comment if you have suggestion or question about this blog: Feel free to ask and I get back to you soon. God bless and thank you for reading my blog.
Next to Explore Island of iloilo is AJUY  Hope I do it by my self again.

June 23, 2012.

Caramoan Island is a hidden  treasure place found in the Philippines. Between Island of Naga bicol region and Virac catanduanes, Caramoan is part of Bicol region, but its the best transpo to rich is Virac. This place is known for the finest sand and rocky formation of islands. Visiting caramoan is my biggest adventure alone. Being their is a little expensive for solo traveler but its fulfilling.

LAHOS BEACH

Visiting this impressive island and great rock formation is fulfillment of my journey in life. To rich this Island in easy way, is to take plane around 1 hour. If planing a land transport by using (RORO) it take 12 hrs. You have 2 options. 1st. Caramoan Via Naga- But Its a little slow and take a lot of hours to consumed. Unlike the 2nd option is Via Virac .

How to get Their:

Book ticket of course easy way get in the airplane and pretty crew   Zest Air if your from Manila.
Arrival at the Airport of Virac is the cheapest transportation.

Take a Tricycle to terminal of jeepney  to Codon port amount is only 10.00 pesos,
or if your little hurry you can haggle to the tricycle how much they charge going to codon, but pretty sure they charge you around 350 or 250, but normally each transportation going to codon is only 50 pesos in 5 setters for tricycle.

Tricycle each 10.00
Rent a boat 2,500.00

Tricycle you can ride going to Codon port to explore Caramoan Island. This is the cheapest way going to codon port. just to explore the beauty of Caramoan.

Arrival at Port codon and going to boat to explore the beautiful Island of Caramoan. Port are clean and nice, will maybe perfect for jogging or biking.

Boat (Banka) use most fisherman and they used this for transportation visiting Caramoan Islands or exploring the islands and visit Paniman Caramoan. If the visitor are large group they can use also a large boat and amount of boat range to 350.00 or 400 each and total passenger is 4 to 6 persons only.

Taken picture before leaving codon port and explore Caramoan treasure islands. So gad that kuya Rey agree amount that I payed, since I'm solo traveler a little expensive, but its okay beside this place is i really want to visit and planned for along time ago, I mean a years.

Off to Codon port...this is it... I cant wait longer...here Aim Caramoan..weather is good water are calm and its looks like their waiting for me lol :-).

Entering Caramoan  islands
So much fantastic, vibrant sea, calm water, sky are blue as Am I wondering the place. Peaceful and great having here.

Visiting Caramoan first you will pass some small islands and rocky formations, some are green. and have small cave and cliff.

1st rocky island we pass over. and take a look near..Wanted to drop by but, boat man said its rocky down so not safe to drop down to swim around. Safety first.

During boat is still running cant imagine how beautiful the islands, beaches, rocks. Don't where i look because of great views, I advice the boat man (Rey) to stop over to take a picture. 2nd rocky small island.

Approaching the 3rd rocky small beach or I can call island because the other side huge stone with trees that you can put one castle  maybe.

3rd rocky islands..but this is huge at back if you look around.this is maybe hundreds years already.

This place is perfect for picnic at the top and relaxed..wow wish I'm their on top saying " I'm the top of the rock" :-)

Those cave are great. Lots of birds coming in during late afternoon. The huge one also rocky stone island.

Having pics on the big rocks passing through when entering the beautiful islands. So much mesmerize for the place.

Welcome to TINAGO Beach

Why they called tinago because is a hidden Beach, that never seen during high tide.

The Tinago Beach Caramoan Island
Why they called Tinago (Hidden beach) Its because its hidden and you need to cross before seeing this beach, This beach cannot be seen during high tide.

Water are so clean and good for snorkeling.

The left side is the Tinago beach, hard to visit during low tide because your jump off on boat and swim through. and during high tide small white sand will be seen.

Welcome to LAHOS BEACH.

Stories about this beach why they called lahos because the beach was have passage through from front to back with white sand and beautiful rock formations. In Filipino words came from Tagos and soon became (LAHOS)

Welcome  to Lahos Beach Island of Caramoan. The beach was much appreciated and admired.

Lahos Beach ( Caramoan) White sand and Amazing place to visit and cant be forget visiting this place.

Clear water sea weeds is enjoying the clear water and welcoming me for visiting their under water. Great great feeling after all.

This side is taken in lahos rock sea shore. Lots of fish swimming here when I visited and just few visiting when I arrived. For me this is great day because during summer lots of tourist people visiting this beautiful place.

This rock is huge you can walk through side by side. Little fish are playing around the sea shore and its fantastic.

Back Side of Lahos Beach @Caramoan Island. White vibrant sand and clear water.

This is the Lahos beach found in caramoan. white vibrant sand and rocky shore with lots of small fishes around.

More pictures to show...

Awesome white sand

The two boat man who help me to be seen this beautiful place of Lahos beach Caramaon. So much thankful for them because they a nice person who tour me all beaches we found in caramoan.

Welcome to HUNONGAN.

Lots of Island most of them not yet recognize.

I don't have time to spend to this island, so I preferred take some photos and explore some Island. You can stop over and take few min to see some fish around if you have snorkeling gear.

The GOTA BEACH

Gota Beach
Is a private resort who can organize island hopping also. but most of time they don't allowed outsider on the island. As per conversation with my tour guide they charge 1,500 per one night.

For this trip my expenses is                                 3,500.00
Manila Airport shuttle                                              20.00
Airfare round trip with terminal fee Boat           1,500.00
